What's Missing?
Dr. David Fincher, President
Fairly often, we’ll have school board members and leaders from Atlanta or from a thousand miles away visit GACS. Their interests in our school range from specific learning programs to governance, from Christian life to finance, and from facilities to technology. At some point they express something between satisfaction and amazement at the opportunities, programs, and facilities they find in the Greater Atlanta Christian family. And indeed we are blessed.

All of the school goals were met in the Magazine Sale this year. In fact, every grade level from K4 through 12 broke their goals. The final grand total will be in the neighborhood of $690,000, the second highest total in GAC history. The Elementary school set a new record with $408.74 per person. The Village was the “most improved” school with an increase this year of $35 per person.

Senior High Retreats a Big Success!
Scott Harsh, Senior High Principal
On August 24th - 26th, approximately 265 freshman and sophomore students and their teachers traveled to the FFA Camp in Covington for a spiritual retreat called The Starting Point. Students experienced incredible worship (led by Jordan House), challenging speakers (Daniel Cline, Terry Beasley, and Derek Wilson), sock wars, domination on the sand-volleyball court by the faculty team, late night devotionals, small groups and a thrilling game of Capture-the-Counselor, just to name a few of the events that made the retreat truly phenomenal. Meet Hayden Lane - SH World History, Psychology, and Latin III/IV Teacher
Jill Morris, Community Relations Director
Hieroglyphics etched by students decorate the wall in Hayden Lane’s classroom. Chairs are arranged in an interactive circle, for the game “Catch Phrase”. “I’m a gamer,” shared Hayden. And gaming works for Hayden as he engages his students. With only seconds to answer chapter review questions, tensions mount as students lean on the edge of their seats and wait for their teacher to restart the count-down of the Catch Phrase game. “I make note cards with key terms on them,” he says. “I figure if they can explain to each other what the terms are, then they will know them. And they all do know them.” Read more... |

Keeping Our Students Safe
Dr. Misty Overman, Junior High Principal
Whether global warming, the newest song from Hannah Montana, or planning for college, we as parents worry about our kid’s past, present and future. From time to time, issues surface that concern the physical, emotional, and spiritual safety of our students. It is our goal to find ways to help our students navigate difficult waters to keep them safe and strong. Read more... |

Legacy of Serving
Terry Davis, Junior High Chaplain
A new tradition has been started in Junior High. Throughout the school year I will be taking Junior High students to the Rainbow Omega organization, a residential facility for mentally handicapped adults in Eastaboga, Alabama. These challenged adults do many good works such as stuffing owner manuals for Hyundai and Lincoln automobiles produced nearby. The residents earn paychecks and have a chance each week to go to the bank to cash their checks and then make their own purchases at nearby stores. The first trip earlier in the school year really made an impact on our Junior High students. Read more... |

9/11 Chapel in the Junior High
Terry Davis, Junior High Chaplain
Vice President of Development and Head Football Coach Jimmy Chupp conducted Junior High chapel on September 11, 2007. Students started with songs of praise and then bowed in prayer. Coach Chupp wanted us to remember what happened that day. Instead of showing pictures of the tragedy, he showed pictures of the heroes that day – pictures of firemen, policemen and mothers.
