 GAC Class of 2004 graduate Deep Shah is one of the two Rhodes Scholars from UGA and the first from Greater Atlanta Christian School where Deep attended from Kindergarten through 12th grade.  Deep will study at Oxford for two years where he hopes to earn a masters degree in Global Health Science and then continue on to medical school.   Read more...

“Danger, Will Robinson!”  Remember that phrase from “Lost in Space”?  Wikipedia reminds us of “the autonomous (and nameless) “Robot” [who] takes a protective attitude toward Will, and alerts him to dangerous situations, expecting Will to take immediate action to protect himself.  The robot cannot do everything, even though its sensors are amazingly sensitive.”  Ever feel like the robot?  Are you constantly alerting your child to the serious dangers of sex, drugs, and alcohol and the “less” serious dangers of procrastination, lackluster effort, and disorganization?  “Warning!  Warning!  Alien spacecraft approaching!”  If only it were that simple.  Raising kids today is as complicated a job as it has ever been.    Read more...

Congratulation Educators - You Make a Difference!

Senior High Principal Scott Harsh will lead a five member team in a year-long Technology Change Consortium involving twenty private schools in the Southeast.  The team will be studying and implementing technology changes for grades 6-12.  The consortium is directed by Will Richardson, a leading international guru on future technology in education.     Read more...

Twelve hundred hand written letters were recently mailed to the U.S. military personnel from 1st through 12th grade GAC students.  Letters will be delivered around Thanksgiving to some of the 375,000 service men and women serving overseas.  The Senior High Student Council, joined by Senior Sabrina Guven and Junior Hope Wooster, coordinated the project.      Read more...

“Today, the school brought back the old people to tell the young people about the old days,” joked Atlanta attorney, GAC alumni and parent Jeff Hicks.  But in reality, the couple, attorneys Jeff and Sherianne simply came back to give back.  They both had learned the value of “quality education in a Christian environment” beginning in the third grade at GACS.  Jeff was named “Most Likely to Succeed” by his peers in the class of 1988, and that “prophecy” has been fulfilled with Sherrianne at his side.     Read more...

All of the late turn-ins and late internet sales for the 2007 Magazine Sale have been recorded.  At the end of the official sale on September 17, our total was $683,669.14.  The late turn-ins this year added another $14,220.91.  The grand total, therefore, for the 2007 sale is $697,890.05!     Read more...

GAC Wins State One Act Play Competition for the Sixth Time in a Row!

The Georgia High School Association (GHSA) announced GAC as winner of the Region AA One Act Play Competition for the sixth straight year.  GAC Theatre Director, Clif Jones, now has 18 state wins in his drama career with GAC and 11 wins in the category of GHSA One Act Play AA Competition.   Read more...

Dale Cramer, husband, father, electrician, and author, enlightened the Senior High students as he explained how his decision to be a Christian has shaped his life and the content and themes of his books.   The Christian values of love and forgiveness interwoven in his book Levi’s Will grew from the skeleton story of Cramer’s father and his Amish heritage.  Read more...

Volleyball Team Serves...

The Lady Spartans Varsity Volleyball Team hosted the 6th Annual Elementary Volleyball Clinic for 2nd - 5th grade girls on October 2nd and had 72 participants!  The goal was to raise $1300 to sponsor a patient at the Predisan Medical Clinic in Catacamas, Honduras.    Read more...

GAC Sophomore Wins Miss Teen Georgia

Congratulations to GAC Sophomore Shannon Geraghty who was recently crowned Miss Teen Georgia.  Shannon has participated in the City of Angels mission trip, plays varsity soccer for GAC and also plays for the Gwinnett Soccer Association GSU, U16.  She was selected for the Olympic Development Performance team for two straight years.  Read more...

Among the new faces at GACS this year is Chalis Montgomery, director of the Junior High Chorus.  Chalis is a graduate of the University of Mississippi where she performed as a member of the Grammy-nominated University of Mississippi Gospel Choir and the internationally-acclaimed Concert Singers.     Read more...

It is that time of the year when many things will be purchased for children.  Be sure that some of the things on the list are for child-driven, unstructured play.  A daily concern within the classrooms is the need our students have to PLAY when they come to school.  Because movement is essential to learning, each school day includes a recess time and a physical education class.  However, the majority of our school day must be devoted to academics.     Read more...
